Hi all,

I am looking for cheap solution for DAQ which allow user to set AO using external digital signal as sample clock, and I just realized that USB-6001 is not a good candidate. Would please someone point out the cheapest USB version for this task? It doesn't need high sampling rate. Thank you.

NI760999-01

Is it possible to get a NI760999-01 (68-pin Female connector) or similar? Are there any alternatives to the CB-68LPR? We build/use our own DAQs, I would like to avoid screw terminals if possible as they leave a lot of room for error. Putting the NI760999-01 connector on a PCB may be a good option for me.

Thanks,

Mark

Which NI DAQ device or system can pick up nanovolt signals?

We have an analog sensor here that its output gives us nanovolts order signal. I was wondering is there any NI DAQ device that you could introduce me so that I can take these measurments to the Labview?(signal to noise ratio is low) It would be great if you also suggest me an Osciloscope code or software in Labview that get the signal from DAQ device and I can play with or save the signal like a real Osclloscope because I could not find a good one in the examples. If this question is not related to here please provide a link for me to delete this and ask it somewehere else in the forume. Thank you

Noise on 9215

Hello,

I have a NI9215 but the first channel is very noisy compared to the 3 other inputs :

On a 5 V tension generator, i have a noise of about 50 mV for the first Analog input and less than 5 mV on the 3 others.

I don't understand why.

I wired only 1 channel a time and only AI+ and Ai- are pluged.

What can i do to fix that?

Thanks.

Hi,

I am using C# in Visual Studio to program a PCIe-6323. I wondered what's the maximum sampling rate, which is the 2nd paramter in ConfigureSampleClock(), that the card can handel?

LabVIEW with SCXI-1001 chassis, SCXI-1600 usb module, and SCXI-1100 module with SCXI 1300 terminal block

Hello community,

I am looking to interface with a SCXI-1001 chassis, SCXI-1600 usb module, and SCXI-1100 module with SCXI 1300 terminal block. I configured my system as detailed below in "System Information." When I powered everything up, I was able to detect my 1600 and my 1100 modules through NI MAX, but I was unable to perform a simple test as seen in the attached screenshot. The result was error status code: -200073. I tried looking into it, and I was unsuccessful finding anything that helped me right away.

My goal for the project is to attach a few sensors and display data through LabVIEW. I've made everything else, but this little interfacing issue is holding me up. Is it possible to communicate through the USB of the SCXI-1600 with the SCXI-1100 module with a 1300 terminal block mounted in the SCXI-1001 chassis? I've attached an image showing my configuration with the 1300 terminal block removed from the 1100 module; of course, I connect these when I'm attempting to use NI MAX or LabVIEW.

I discovered early on that I would run into problems with 64 bit Windows 7, so I prepared a 32 bit Windows 7 system for this project.

System Information

Computer

  • Windows 7 32 bit
  • LabVIEW 2015
  • NI-DAQmx 15.0

Devices

  • SCXI-1001 chassis
  • SCXI-1600 usb digitizer module in slot 1 (usb connect to computer)
  • SCXI-1100 32 channel multiplexer amplifier in slot 2
  • SCXI-1300 terminal block attached to SCXI-100 module

Any assistance or advice is greatly appreciated! This is my first time trying to use an SCXI platform. I originally wanted to simply use a USB cDAQ system, but then I found out our group just happened to have an SCXI platform from a few years ago that was never used.

All the best,

wiring anemometer to NI 9219 or similar

Hello,

I'm trying to wire a Davis Instruments 7911 anemometer to a module on my cDAQ, specfically the NI 9219.

Based on the manufacturer's wiring diagram for the anemometer there are 4 leads:

  • a yellow lead that is direction excitation
  • a red lead that acts as the common/ground
  • a green lead that is the wiper for the potentiometer
  • a black lead which is connected to a reed switch for wind speed data

I'm trying to wire this into the NI 9219, but I'm unsure if it will provide sufficient excitation for the anemometer. I believe the anemometer requires 5 volts based on the connector it came with.

Does anyone have experience with this?Boards that they could suggest if this one doesn't work? It's a simple cup and vane anemometer.

problem reading 9236 Strain guage as a golbal variable

Dear All

Hi

I'm new in this ,

My problem  description :

I use NI cDAQ -9138 Chassis with LabVIEW Real-Time, I have multiple cards such as

NI 9205 and NI9235 strain gauge on the system.

My configuration is so simple, using signal express software, I need to read and capture online data from these cards.

When I define a NI-DAQ task  for NI 9205(analog voltage) and change it to virtual global channel , I can easily read the data both on NI-DAQ task and also SignalExpress 2013.

But with NI9235 card ( 120 ohm Quarter bridge) the situation is different, when I define a new task on my remote system, I can read  the strain values in continues mode, but when I change any strain channel to a global virtual variable ( to be able to use it with signal express software)  the sample rate  decrease and almost stops, the value is not update on task window and on signal express the value stays zero all the time.

To me it’s like when any strain channel on (NI9235) is change to a global virtual channel the communication between software ( NI MAX or Signal express ) is interrupted.

I need to rectify this problem , so I really appreciate if anybody helps me with this situation.

 Regards

Ron

Getting voltage signal on unused inputs of NI USB-6212 BNC

I have the BNC connector DAQ and am using the first 2 analog inputs to read in voltage from a device. If i graph 4 inputs for example, on Ai2 and Ai3 I still see the same signal as Ai1. Why is this ocurring and how do i prevent it? I would expect to just see noise coming from the 2 unattached bnc inputs but instead I see signal, is there that much cross coupling in this device? Or am i not gorunding it properly? I am connecting over USb to my laptop and that is connected into the wall.

But I still try to open the test panel. It seems that the card is still working.

No error report in the test panel of PXI-6229.png

Then I reset the test panel, the self-test passed.

Then If I verify the SCXI chassis, the selftest of PXI-6229 will fail again.

Liebe NI Nutzer/innen,

I an having trouble to make my version of Matlab recognise the USB-6009

My configuration
Windows 7 enterprise x64
Matlab r2011b x64 with daq toolbox

When I try to launch the interactive session  I get the following error message:

I used dependency walker and found missing DLLs

My troubleshooting steps:

  1. Uninstall and re-install USB6009 with the latest driver and do all updates
  2. Use dependency walker on Matlab

These DLL seem to be missing
NICAIU.DLL
API-MS-WIN-APPMODEL-RUNTIME-L1-1-0.DLL
API-MS-WIN-CORE-WINRT-ERROR-L1-1-0.DLL
API-MS-WIN-CORE-WINRT-L1-1-0.DLL
API-MS-WIN-CORE-WINRT-ROBUFFER-L1-1-0.DLL
API-MS-WIN-CORE-WINRT-STRING-L1-1-0.DLL
API-MS-WIN-SHCORE-SCALING-L1-1-1.DLL
DCOMP.DLL

My preliminary conclusion is that there is a problem with the driver installation. Could you advise me which one could work better?

I am out of ideas.

Best regards.

analog input phase drift

The phase of analog input signals are drifting over time in my system. A 1kHz square wave with 50% duty cycle is sampled at 50kHz with the 9205 module and cDAQ-9178 chasis using the Voltage-Continuous Input example VI. While observing one period of the signal in the waveform graph,  it can be seen that the square wave is slowly shifting from left to right in the display. An example of this phenomenon is given below. Changing the clock source from "on-board" to "PFI0" casues the drifting to slow down, but it is still present. The input signal was measured with an oscilloscope and found to be time-stable. The input source, DAQ, PC and external clock all share a common ground.

What would cause the sampled signal to shift over time?

Are there software buffers that need to be reset?

Are there any known LV time stamp misallignments?

Does USB-232 work with compactDAQ?

Does anyone have experience using a USB RS232 device with a compactDAQ controller running Embedded Windows? (like this)  I need to interface with 8 devices via RS-232, so I'm considering adding two of these 4-port USB devices.  I've had success using these on a normal Windows computer, but I've no experience using it for a compactDAQ.  Seems like it should work, but I'd really like to hear first-hand confirmation if possible.

Thank you!

2 Signal OUT and 8 Signal IN DAQ project getting error -200477

$

I am creating a new program for data acquisition for a lab I volunteer in on campus. The Lab wants me to create two analog signals (one to be used as a clock to sync readings taken by the lab and readings taken by an outside commercial sleep lab), and acquire 8 signals with a frequency of at least 1kHz per channel. The lab has two DAQ devices (1. An NI USB-6008 and 2. An NI USB-6218) and I have an NI myDAQ which I am currently using to make and acquire all of the signals. My main issue is that when I currently run the program, I am getting an error message which says Error -200477 is occuring in the times signal loop (the Specified operation cannot be performed when the re are no devices in the task). I have included a screen capture of the error message below along with the project I have developed so far. However, this error does not make sense to me as I am specifying the devices to use in my settings which I will also screen capture and include below. Please help me figure out where this error is coming from and what I can do to fix it. Thanks for any help I can get!!

9205 COM best practice

Hi guys,

I wonder if you can provide me some picture showing your (in field) installation of 9205 modules (or something similar). I mean showing wires, circuitry etc.

In particular I have doubts about "best practices" in input wiring in RSE configuration. For example, if you have to connect 24 sensors in RSE, how do you wire 24 wires in COM input? Additional terminals? External case? What?

Strange analog output from USB-6211

$

I just received USB-6211 to replace USB-6001 for setting external sample clock on analog output for LED light control. The external sample clock part is working fine, but the analog output voltage is strange. In order to do self-testing, I have connected LED control pin to AO0 & AI0 for monitoring in NI MAX test panel, and LED control ground to AO-GND & AI-GND. Since I have both USB-6001 and USB-6211, I carried out tests on both of them with the same wire setting. When I generate sinusoidal wave -5V to 5V at AO0 (from NI MAX test panel), USB-6001 can monitor the same signal from AI0, but USB-6211 shows -3.4V to 3.4V truncated voltage. I have done the test separately (wiring one device at a time), so there is no interference between the two devices. USB-6211 passed self-calibration and self-testing. I've also done reset devices. I don't know why they would behave differently with the same setup, and hopefully someone could help with this issue. Thanks.

Getting error 200474 at test panel using PCI-6110 cards in PCI expansion system

$

Hi, I have four (4) NI PCI-6110 cards in a 32-bit PCI expansion chassis which is connected to my PC (Win7).

When I open the NI MAX software, the cards are all visible, and are located in slots 2, 3, 4, and 5.

When I use the test panel for cards in slots 2 and 3, I have no problems, all AI on both cards function normally.

When I try to use the test panel for cards in slots 4, and 5, the test panel freezes when I press "start" for a few moments, then gives me a timeout error 200474 at test panel.

However, once I clear the error and press "start" again, the cards seem to function normally, I can apply a signal and see the waveform appear in the test panel for all AI.

This is a problem when I go to use our in-house data acquistion software, and try to address one of the channels of one of the cards in slots 4 or 5, the software crashes.

Our in-house software has no problem acquiring data from the cards in slots 2 and 3 however.

We have multiple system with the exact same setup and do not have this issue.

It seems like something is always trying to use a resource on the cards in slots 4 and 5, but I'm not sure.

I tried updating to DAQmx 15.1, and uninstalling and reinstalling the cards.  I also tried swapping the cards around to different slots and removing cards.  I also tried different RTSI cables, but no luck.

Can someone help me out?  Thanks.

Error -200279 with PCIe-6363

$

I currently have a simple vi used to continuously acquire voltage data through the DAQ assistant.

Currently I am trying to collect 2 channels sampled at 200k continuously (due to random events).

Regardless of where I set the samples to read at, I repeatedly get: Error -200279.

From some other posts, I surmise it is because the DAQmx read function and the "write to file" function are occuring at different rates causing a data mismatch perhaps.

To fix this, should I implement the producer/consumer design pattern? And if so, may I receive guidance on how to actually implement that with my current vi?
