NI 9203 with a micromotion flowmeter

So, we are running an NI 9203 with a micromotion 1700 transmitter.  The micromotion is internally powered and when speaking with micromotion they recommended using an unpowered card.  We do not have any unpowered cards.  Our card is powering other sensors too so I can't disconnect power.  I hooked it up with the power not hooked up and got it to work just fine.  Ran fine for a couple of days and yesterday blew a fuse.  I wasn't here to troubleshoot but they said they put the fuse back in and it popped immediately.  So, my long winded question, how do you hook an internally powered sensor up to a powered card?

PCI-6713 sometimes not returning to 0V

Hello everyone, I use a fpga as a variable timebase clock source to synchronize PCI-6713, the clock signal was routed to PFI_0 in 6713 using a coxial cable. The fpag and 6713 share the same ground, in order to decrease the crosstalk between the clock signal and the analog output, I connect a series resistor(820Ω) in the coxial cable to filter the high frequency so the clock signal RT was increased to 1us, the crosstalk noise was decreased from 30mV to less than 2mV. A software written by complicated C# codes was used to send commands to the card to control the output.
The problem is when I repeat sending same commands to output the same analog output( the analog output time resolution is 2us ), in addition to the normal output, some wrong output that at the end of the program execution the output not returning to 0V occurs! When I checked the buffer size after each running cycle(analog ouput resolution is 2us), the expected sample is 4003, when the output is normal, the generated sample can be 4002、4003、4004; When the ouput not returning to 0V, the generated sample is 4004. If I change the analog output time resolution to 1us、3us、4us、5us、50us, the output is always normal.
What confused me is why the output not returning to 0V sometimes during repeating the same program? What does the clock signal RT affect my output (If I don't connect resistor in the clock wire, the malfunction of output not occurs, but the noise amplitude will be larger)? Why the output is normal if I change the analog output resolution to other values? Why the generated sample difffers after each running cycle? What measurement should I take to get over this problem?
The attachments of figure 1 is a magnified analog output and clock signal, figure 2 is the abnormal output.
Much appreciated if you can help me.

Generate Pulse pattern using NI 6713 DAQ Digital output

Hi,

I recently started working on NI 6713 DAQ. I am using its analog output for sine generation which is working fine. Now I want to generate custom pulse pattern, the pulse width required is 5us.

But current I have no idea about generating custom signals and how to control the timing of pulse. Can you please guide me or share any example regarding this?

Thanks,

DAC for a magnetometer working at 800 KHz X-Y

Hi, my name is Guille and I thank you in advance for every reply.

I´m starting a project on the design of a magnetometer.

Our driver´s company works with high frequency voltages, from 100 KHz to a maximum of 800 KHz and magnetic fields from 48 Gauss to 400 Gauss.

Our goal is to represent in our software (developed in LABView) the hysteresis diagram in a X-Y graph, so the DAC should works with 2 sinusoidal (high impedance) inputs: B (Flux Density) and H (Magnetizing Force).

So my question is if there´s any kind of DAC (or DAQ) that works with this high frequency-high field scales, and what kind of requirements needs the DAC. Is not necesary to be a NI hardware, I just need an example of hardware that can work for me or what restrictions may exist.

Thanks a lot for every reply and have a nice day Smiley Happy

cDAQ Matlab - same sampling rate for in- and output channels

Hello everyone!

I am trying to simultaneously record and generate signals with the following hardware using Matlab:

cDAQ-9189 / NI9234 / NI9215 / NI9263

When I add all in- and output channels to one session there is the problem that the modules use their internal clock.

With which command can I assign the chassis clock to all modules?

Thanks a lot in advance!

PCI6229 Multifunction DAQ - AI Channel interference

This is a new PCI-6229 card and has a peculiar issue. With all AI channels left floating just connected the 5V signal from the screw terminal board to AI5 input. I could see that the signal is picked up by all other channels almost at 4V level.

I do understand that floating channels pick up stray signals and the SH amplifier can pass on some of the previous channel value during multiplexing to the next channel. But in this case the interference is so high that even valid signals are modified and I am getting wrong values. The source impedance of all connected devices is very low ( about 1KOhm or less ) as they are I-V signal conditioners.

IS the card gone for good ?

Please see the image below when running a standard LV example.

NI 9215 and PNP Proximity Sensor

Hi folks

I am attempting to read a photo-electric sensor (Telemecanique XUB9BPBNM12) voltage output using an NI-9215 and cDAQ-9174. The wiring setup is shown below (all credit to Lynn/johnsold from a previous thread on this topic):

proximitysensor.PNG

The power supply is a 24V DC mains adaptor so I am using a voltage divider to step the high signal down to 8V. This also acts as a pull-down resistor.

While the sensor output is low the signal is as expected, with little noise. However when the output is high the signal is dropping to 0V at 50Hz, as shown here:

Suspecting a grounding issue, I set about trying a few things to rectify this.

  • Connecting AI- to COM
  • Connecting AI- to COM through a 1M resistor
  • Isolating the sensor from any conductive metalwork
  • Replacing the sensor cable with a shielded one
  • Generally moving the sensor cable around looking for any change on the trace.

None of which had any real impact on the reading. I have also confirmed that both the DAQ module and the power supply operate normally with other sensors (a load cell and pressure transducer, I don't have any alternative proximity sensors available to test).

Any advice is much appreciated!

Matlab DAQ with SCXI-1305, SCXI-1142 and PCI-6031E

Hello!

I am making a simple DAQ program in Matlab using an PCI-6031E through SCXI-1305/SCXI-1142 installed in SCXI-1000.

I found out that every time the PC restarts, I have to run a LabVIEW program first (created by a another engineer, just a start and immediately exit). Otherwise my Matlab code does not get the signal I expect. The signal would look like to have been filtered by a low-pass filter at extremely low cut-off frequency, maybe 1Hz.

It seems the issue is that the SCXI-1142 needs an initial configuration after PC restart which I cannot do or just don't know how, in Matlab.

If my understanding is correct, then my question is, Is there another solution other than having to run the LabView program to initialize SCXI-1142?

Many thanks in advance!

Installing an AT-MIO-16E-10 board on Windows XP

Hello,

I have installed a legacy AT-MIO-16E-10 board on a Windows XP workstation.  When I click the Test Resources button I get a "The device is not responding to the first DMA channel" error.  I found a very old post on this forum referencing a similar issue:

https://forums.ni.com/t5/Multifunction-DAQ/Device-not-responding-to-the-first-DMA-channel/td-p/993501?profile.language=en

Unfortunately, the KB article referenced in that post is no longer online.

Does anyone have an archive of that link, or know how to manually configure these settings?

Thanks in advance for any information.

Floating Signal Issue PCI-e 6323

Hello there,

I am pretty new to the forum and hope that I could get some assistance.

I have a bugger of an issue here and hope someone could help me with this. The issue I am experiencing is that when the computer that this PCI-e 6323 installed is powered up everything would work normally. But in the evening when we shut down for the day and turn off the computer, few of our machines on that is connected to our breakout are left running, there seems to be an electrical floating issue that occurs (there is serial data getting feed to one of the I\O lines and from that some of the other lines get is some of the voltage, causing the system to get enabled.) I am not sure why there is current flowing in the system or why the other lines are getting affected.

any insight into this issue or solution would be appreciated.

Thank you

DAQmxRegisterEveryNSamplesEvent如何实现每秒采集256个点?

DAQmxErrChk(DAQmxCfgSampClkTiming(taskHandle, "", 10000, DAQmx_Val_Rising, DAQmx_Val_ContSamps, 1000));

个人理解:

范例中10000是采样频率10kHZ,1000代表每通道采集1000点
DAQmxErrChk(DAQmxRegisterEveryNSamplesEvent(taskHandle, DAQmx_Val_Acquired_Into_Buffer,1000 , 0, EveryNCallback, NULL));

Continuous DAQ hardware that supports oscilloscope probe termination?

$

Hi - I'm looking for a continuous DAQ device that supports oscilloscope probe terminations. My application has used 4 probes, three 100X voltage probes, and one current probe that are all tektronix probes terminated to a tektronix oscilloscope. I've had some difficulty in some tests where the oscilloscope didn't trigger properly, and would like to move to a continuous log of the data during the test that doesn't rely on a hardware trigger. There is just always this uncertainty of if the signal was actually there and the oscilloscope didn't trigger properly (trigger fault) or was the signal not ever there to begin with? The sample rate isn't crazy fast -- only 10-100 samples per millisecond should suffice for this application looking at trends that exist for 8-10 ms. I have a CompactDAQ chassis so I was wondering if the NI 9775 would work for my application. Most DAQ devices have really high input impedance and so oscilloscope probes will not work (as they expect 1Mohm input impedance not Gohm input impedance).

Thank you for your input.

Can't launch test panel in NI MAX when NI VISA installed

Hi,

I have a PCI 6703 and used to work well in NI MAX with Test Panel. After I installing VISA, the original button of Test Panel disappeared instead of Test VISA Panel. I have checked the driver and DAQ configure and DAQ configure support are all installed. Are there any suggestions I can get the old Test Panel back?

Solenoid Valve Control

Hello,

I am trying to control 8 solenoid valves using labview.  I have done this before (way back) but I had help from an electrical engineer.  I understand I need the following:

1. USB-6501

2. Relay

3. Power Supply

4. Solenoid Valves

I already have the LabView program written, as I am using the same one I wrote in graduate school, but I can't remember how to connect the 4 units together.  Can someone push me to the right direction?

Thank you,

Over heating of PCI 4472B

Dear Sir/Madam

I have 2 PCI 4472B cards on an ASUS mother board in my research lab. Due to lack of suitable cable it has not been used operationally up to now but the computer has been turned on for several times. Recently, I find that after few minutes of turning the computer on the temperature of four ICs after the analog part of PCI 4472B card, which are indicated by a red rectangle in attached figure, reaches to 63 Celsius with out using it for data acquisition. Self check, Self calibration and Test plan are done successfully by NI MAX.

Is this temperature is natural even in nonoperational condition?

Best Regards.

Looking for a suitable displacement sensor (LVDT) for NI9218.

I'm working on a testrig using the Compact daq system.

The system needs to be able to power and read-in a loadcell and a displacement sensor.

To keep the test rig as compact as possible (Portable system), I want to use the NI9218 module in my compacDAQ system, which can power and read-in 2 channels/sensors.

Can somebody help me with the following?

Which type of displacement sensor (LVDT) is suitable to be powered/read-in via the NI9218 module? (If possible, without an extra power supply)

Which specs for the LVDT sensor a important to be able to work with the NI9218 module?

Best regards,

Frederik

BioPatRec EMG and NI USB-6009

I'm looking to work on an EMG system but i'm not sure where to all start.

I'm hoping to use the BioPatRec open source program that runs through Matlab, which says it has been tested with the NI USB-6009, but has anyone here had any experience using the two? and with what EMG systems? It's a bit of an investment for the project and I'm just hoping others have had any experience with making the two work before I commit to one.

I've done some work with the Noraxon DTS desktop receiver and their MR3 program, but was told by them that it wouldn't work with BioPatRec for what I want to try doing.

Connecting Futek Load Cell LTH-350 to NI 9327 module

Dear all,

I am about to purchase FUTEK load cell (LTH350) and later, will pair with the NI 9327 module. NI 9327 module comes with RJ50 connector while FUTEK might not be provided with RJ50 connector. So I plan to wire the  cable to NI 9949 RJ-50 screws to terminal accessory, then connect the RJ-50 to NI 9327. Futek cell comes with 4 conductors.

My queries:

1) Is it possible/ok  to connect FUTEK load cell to NI 9327  using this configuration?

2) If yes, how to properly   way of wiring configuration  between the load cell and NI 9949 pin ?(img;futek wiring code & ni9949 pin)

FUTEK_LTH325%20WIRING%20CODE

ni-9949

3) Also just wondering, is it ok to use RJ45 connector for rj50 slot NI 9327 module?

Really appreciate for your advices and helps.

Thanks

Voltage offset between attenuator and DAQ in SCC-68?

$

I'm troubleshooting a system that uses a PCIe-6221 and an SCC-68 without much success. There is a constant voltage offset on the analog inputs that doesn't show up with a DMM in the breakout box.

In one case, there is an A10 module in slot 1 (10x attenuator) that shows a ~4VDC offset in LabVIEW (MAX or an executable), which becomes a ~40VDC offset in our program. The measurement is set for differential. Changing to RSE or NRSE increases the offset to ~6VDC. Using a DMM on the differential inputs shows 0 VDC. Unplugging the connector on the A10 module does not change the offset. Removing the A10 module does not change the offset.

In another case, ai2/ai10 shows a 2.2VDC offset in the test panel in differential mode and 10.7VDC in RSE. Measuring between ai2/ai10  with a DMM shows 0VDC. Measuring between DGND and ai2/ai10 shows 15.5VDC on both.

In addition to checking voltages at all of the ground references, I've tried replacing the 6221, the cable, and the SCC-68 and the problem is still present. There is a 24VDC power supply connected to some of the automation components in the enclosure and disconnecting it removes the offset. The 24VDC supply is not directly connected to the DAQ system but does power a hardware "watchdog timer" relay. Removing the relay does not remove the offset.

I'm still learning how to troubleshoot measurement systems, so I've probably overlooked something simple. Anyone have suggestions on where else I should be looking?

Thanks!
